NEW YORK CITY (May 9, 2006) – So what do streetball players and Harley-Davidson motorcycle riders have in common?  They all play by their own rules and have a whole lotta’ attitude! And while they both seek adventure with the same “no blood, no foul” approach, they’re also both big on passion and community. The only motorcycle with enough street “cred” to make an appearance with these gladiators of the blacktop is the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, which will take center court at half time during the Entertainer’s Basketball Classic (EBC) in Rucker Park, for stars of the stage and blacktop to autograph. The public will have the opportunity to bid online for the ‘06 EBC Fat Boy to raise funds for the DKMS leukemia foundation. The Fat Boy will capture the spirit of the games and the characters who attend, making it the ultimate souvenir of the ten week summer tournament in the heart of New York City.

June 19th marks the kick-off of the street basketball games and the first public presentation of the customized Harley-Davidson. Riding home his personal message to stay passionate and free, DKMS ambassador, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, was first to sign the customized Fat Boy and will host the opening day ceremony. DMC will enlist the support of the basketball and urban music community to sign the one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson throughout the summer games. Basketball greats and urban music giants flock to the annual games to watch some of the nation’s grittiest street-ball, as do fans who star-gaze at the grassroots tournament, which draws top names like Kobe Bryant, Vince Carter to Jay-Z and Beyonce. Attending stars of the blacktop and stage will autograph the one-of-a-kind Harley-Davidson Fat Boy, which will then be auctioned to raise money and awareness for the DKMS leukemia foundation, the official charity of the EBC.

DKMS is dedicated to increasing the odds of leukemia survival by matching potential bone marrow donors with patients worldwide. Over 35,000 patients in the U.S. could benefit from bone marrow transplant, yet roughly 32,000 will not find a match.  DKMS has the largest donor database in the world, and strong supporters of DKMS, like DMC and Jennifer Lopez, are helping connect potential donors with patients in need.

The lucky winning bidder will ride the thundering Fat Boy away from the EBC All-Star and Celebrity game at Madison Square Garden on July 23.
