Another Defeat at Pearl Harbor and Forte helps
Certified Bank on Black Wall Street
The first men’s game had team BMF
taking on Pearl Harbor. Both teams were stacked with
lots of talent making it an exciting game for the
fans to enjoy. BMF’s Gary Irving and Reggie were a
force to be reckoned with using no-look passes to
deep threes finding the bottom of the nylon. BMF
used tight defense and good team work to get them
ahead by 10 early in the first half. Rich Soil
Monstars’ star Daryl “Showtime” Hill, was in the
stands supporting BMF player Eugene Lawrence who
plays with Hill at St. John’s University. Corey
Fischer, the high school junior from Brooklyn, did a
great job keeping Pearl Harbor alive driving to the
basket and shooting missiles. Despite his strong
effort and 18 points it wasn’t enough to catch up to
BMF who took the win 77 to 68. Gary Irving ended the
game with 18 points and 4 assists and teammate
Tommie Eddie has 22 points.
As game two kicked off, Lil Cease of Junior Mafia
was in the stands to watch Black Wall Street take on
Certified. New to the Certified team is Joseph
Forte, former UNC star. He joins Will Power and
Genesis to make a strong squad for Certified who
were 2-0 before their embarrassing loss to Terror
Squad just yesterday. Black Wall Street isn’t short
on talent either, with General Electric, Corey O and
the “Original” Showtime shaking things up. Certified
came out strong, utilizing all of their talent by
using almost all their bench players in the first
half. But Black Wall Street retaliated with a nice
dunk by General Electric and the game was tied at
the half. As the second half began Black Wall Street
pulled away early but they didn’t keep the lead for
long as it was Forte – all night all day. Black Wall
Street tried to catch up but couldn’t shut down
Forte who had a crazy finger roll that gave
Certified to win 64 to 60.
