Omavi Navigates
a Ruff Ryde and Showtime Shows
Off
Omavi Clothing Vs Ruff Ryders
An obvious favorite in this contest, Ruff Ryders
suited up a sparse
team of about eight players, the only recognizable
ones being Cross
Country and Alimoe. Omavi Clothing came out with no
big names, but a
chance for one of their lesser known players to earn
a name, or
solidify the one they already had. One player may
have done just that
as Omavi was held down early by stocky guard,
"Across the Street" (a
reference to his residence in the Polo Grounds).
Across the Street
attacked with a slew of short jumpers and strong
drives making use of
his size advantage. All was not lost for Ruff Ryders
as Alimoe scored
on a bevy of short jumpers and Cross Country,
ironically enough,
strayed away from the cross over and went hard to
the basket. While
close for most of the game, Ruff Ryders pulled away
in the final
minutes to come away with the victory.
Rich Soil Monsters Vs Electrolyte
While the Electrolyte team saw a solid performance
from former U of
Maryland standout Byron Mouton, the story of this
game was of
Showtime. Daryll Hill as he is known to ESPN.com,
and "Showtime," as
he is known to everyone else, was in rare form this
Thursday. Seeing
him run the helm for St. John's it has been hard to
spot, and even in
EBC games it had seemed as though Show was content
running a more
controlled and less flashy offensive attack, but of
all that
reservation went out the window on Thursday night.
Seemingly taking a
day off from the watchful eyes of NBA scouts, Hill
reclaimed Showtime,
returning to the player that made him a legend in
the streets of NYC.
Handling the ball like it was what he was born to
do, we saw lightning
quick crossovers, bounce pass alley-oops, and more
no-look passes than
the law should allow. On one play he put the ball
through his legs 3
or 4 times, and then around his defenders back
before passing it
off…and this was all after he had picked up his
dribble. Electrolyte
fought hard, but in the end, they were just
spectators at the Show.
